Ten of us met on the Lynden Sculpture Garden patio to admire the beautiful American Elm before setting off around the perimeter. There wasn’t much snow on the ground though some of the paths were icy. There weren’t many birds either. We spotted 15 species: some woodpeckers chasing each other around, numerous finches and chickadees as well as a few cardinals. A bunch of crows were upset about something we couldn’t saw.

Without many birds to ID, we turned our attention to finding owl pellets, admiring sculpture and counting the hundreds, perhaps millions, of tadpoles along the edge of ice. (I wish I had a picture of the tadpoles – please email me if you have one)
