Beautiful, sunny, light cooling breeze, warblers, flycatchers, blooming plants – we thoroughly enjoyed a day of spring birding!

Blue Heron is a private, nature center with boardwalks, trails, river frontage and an upland wooded area. Eight of us were there at 7am and treated to a phoebe pair in the parking lot. Soon after we saw and heard a Least Flycatcher.

Half way around the trails we saw the Sandhill Cranes that we had been hearing call all morning. No Belted Kingfishers on the river but there was an Eastern Kingbird. eBird List

Next stop was Riveredge. We stuck to the river trail. The warblers songs were all around us. But before we could pay attention to them we watched a Bald Eagle and Red-Tailed hawk ‘talon’ it out.

We saw Palm, Blackburnians, Northern Parulas, Yellow, lots of Yellow-Rumps, Nashvilles, Black and Whites, and Black-Throated Green warblers. The heard but not seen award goes to the blue-winged warbler. It was a beautiful, beautiful day. eBird list
