Oct 15: Magic Hedge

Last week’s Hawk Watch at Forest Beach Migratory Preserve was fabulous. It was the perfect day to be there: sunny, cool but not frigid, and the perfect hawk migration winds. From 6:30-10:30 about 700 Broad-Winged Hawks flew over, as well as a number of Sharp-Shinned Hawks, Cooper’s Hawks, Turkey Vultures, and Bald Eagles. Several flocks of American Goldfinch, Pine Siskins, Red Crossbills, and Blackbirds also flew by. It was an amazing morning!
