Ready for spring bird songs? Still time to brush up before the trees are filled with warbling warblers. One of the best is Wisconsin’s John Feith’s Bird Song Ear Training Guide available on Spotify and Apple Music as well as Amazon for streaming and as a disc. For each of these Wisconsin birds there is a handy phrase for learning the song, such as “bee buzz” for the Blue-Winged Warbler. A more comprehensive bird song guide covering al of eastern US is Daniel J Borror “Songs of Eastern Birds”. This guide includes numerous variations of songs for birds. This guide is available as audiobook, cassette and vinyl(!). Cornell AllAboutBirds’ article on learning birds songs uses warblers as their example. Then test your knowledge with the Badgerland Birders Warbler Song Quiz on YouTube.
